The B.O.B. Customer Service Enigma

Rude.gif

Let me explain to you how f*d up in the head we are to our own people and how that subsequently places us on path to lose for years to come.

You take any majority black neighborhood and you will find the following:

McDonalds
Jack n The Boxes
Carls Jrs
Taco Bells
Subways
Pizza Huts
KFCs
Church’s Chickens
Wingstops
Walmarts
Targets

In that SAME black neighborhood you will find 2 or 3 uniquely black owned businesses providing products and services created and also served by blacks.

However, you don’t want to shop at those 2 or 3 black owned businesses because of how you like to tell people “customer service is horrible”.

So then you proceed to profess online and to every person you know that if the black entry level employees that serve you at those black owned businesses would only completely change their customer service, you would support them..maybe…you know..one day.

But lets stop and think about something.

The truth is the same caliber of black entry level employees (along with latinos) are staffed in black neighborhoods at all the local:

McDonalds
Jack n The Boxes
Carls Jrs
Taco Bells
Subways
Pizza Huts
KFCs
Church’s Chickens
Wingstops
Walmarts
Targets

Providing you the SAME customer service according to you.

However, sales are gangbusters at these locations.

So lets get this straight. There are certain black people in general would do better to provide customer service to meet customer’s perceived needs.

And that is most likely you as well.

But its NOT the business that is influencing you to provide a lack of support.
Its the BUSINESS that is influencing you to provide a lack of support.

Think about that. Read it again.

Because if customer service WAS really what seperated you from supporting? Then I just have 6 words to remind you of the immense mountains of dollars sent into other people’s hands yearly with far worse customer service:

Korean beauty supply and liquor stores.

And don’t even think about starting with the: “I wont buy black because the prices are too high.”
The reason we believe we NEED cheap prices? Because we have no money.
The reason we have no money? Because we have no or subpar jobs.
Care to guess why we have no or subpar jobs?

So anyone who makes the comment on this page “I would support but the way black owned business customer service is set up” will be blocked with a quickness.

You are welcome to provide thoughtful dialogue that you actually derived from thinking critical on the matter. But you can’t just perpetuate garbage based on lies, self hatred and myths which you refuse to think introspectively on.

Parroting lies is what creates self fulfilling prophecies and confirmation bias.

Figure out your role in the matter and then how you can help if you feel there is a problem.

Starting with your own customer service skills at whatever white owned establishment you currently work for scraps at.

Laquanda.

  1. Thank you! When I was a child, my dad always pointed out how Koreans set up shop in our neighborhoods (but don’t live there), happily accept our money, and make it do backflips through their community. I worked for Karibu Books in the MD/DC area in the early 2000s. Our customer service was excellent, but we did get the occasional complaint about price. I found that funny since Jordans on people’s feet were a common sight.
