The Scion “Pure Price” Hustle

Here is what your typical Scion Dealership does not want you to know (and why I’m going undercover to tape them in the act)

Toyota dealerships make hardly any money on the sale of the car, but more so the gap coverage, warranty, accessories, padding of the interest rate.

1. There’s really no other dealership on earth that focuses 100% on the younger new/first time car buyer demo. This allows them to do some especially nasty sales tricks to the unaware, wet behind the ears or desperate.

2. They’ll use so-called “pure pricing” to have you focus on the scion’s sales price and not the overall cost of the deal. The typical person thinks they are getting over on a dealership when they can haggle the purchase price down. Since in this case, you wont be negotiating a different purchase price than the one in front of you, your defenses have already been breached. This way they can trick new buyers into a variety of shady shit on the backend because you think you’re getting a fair and honest deal.

3. Due to the fact that the sales people make very little money on the sale of a Scion (due to the pure pricing agreement between otherwise honest Toyota Motor corp and their otherwise shady affiliate dealerships), they will fight tooth and nail to sneak in a variety of “mandatory” fees and add ons such as gap coverage, warranty, interior accessories that are already included…and the most heinous of all..

the padding of the interest rate. And by padding, I mean pretending to you, the young car buyer, that you only qualify for a 22% apr, when you qualify for a 12% apr. The dealership makes 10% each month you pay and the car salesman gets a heightened commission.

And if you decline any of this (after theyve snuck it into the final numbers atleast 4-5 times during the deal) many will flat out hand you off to another dumber associate and pretend they are off work now.

Moral of the story, Toyota dealerships make hardly any money on the sale of the car, but more so the gap coverage, warranty, accessories, padding of the interest rate.

Know where their desires lay so you can avoid the ultimate wet behind the ears hustle.

Because if you don’t, you’ll end up living this for the next 10 years: https://thisiswhyubroke.wordpress.com/2012/01/02/the-lost-decade/
